Good budget level smart LED strip!
I was hesitant to order these seeing how (at the time) this product had no reviews, and a different 'budget' brand I had tried before emitted a high pitched whine/electrical squeal when the lights were on. The packaging to these is pretty unassuming, inside the box is the LED strip with attached 6ft cord that has an on/off switch halfway, a USB AC Adapter, and the instructions. The instructions are in pretty broken English and were hard to decipher especially the part about set up and synching with the Smart Life app. the instructions say to have the LED on the device flashing to signify its in pairing mode, but nowhere on the USB AC Adapter or the mid-cable on/off switch was an LED light. After some testing I was able to figure out that you turn the strip off via on/off switch, and then press and hold for 10 seconds, the whole strip will flash to signify it's in pairing mode.Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the overall build quality! Given the fact that I already had two smart plugs which utilize the Smart Life app, Alexa and Google Home integration was a snap, not to mention responses to the commands are very fast and responsive. The timer on the Smart Life app is nice for turning the lights on and off at given times and so far has worked flawlessly. One of my only complaints is that the strip itself doesn't have a 'white' setting per say. The only 'white' it offers is a very bluish daylight white. You'll have to select a color like orange or gold and then use the Brightness and 'Cool' slider to find what you would deem a warm white. As with all 'budget' LED Strips the adhesive backing is good not great. Also, the LED Strip has two plastic blocks molded onto the end of the strip, and if like me, you mount it on the underside of something they just add weight and start to pull the strip down. I was able to remedy this by using some Command Strip velcro strips on the plastic end blocks and it prevents them from pulling the strip down.Pros :- Seems to pretty good build quality.- Range and brightness of colors is pretty impressive, I'm able to match the color and brightness of my LIFX bulbs in my Living Room lamps.- Alexa and Google Home integration is pretty seamless and quick on the responses (see my video).- Water resistance (have not personally tested).- There's a few scenes built into the Smart Life app which allow some level of customizability in terms of speed and colors.- There is no audible electrical buzz or hum while the product is on, which I can't say for other budget LED strips.- The 6ft USB cord has two molded rubber cord ties which is nice to help cleanly tie things up.Cons :- There's one white setting, and it's a cool daylight white. Asking Alexa for warm white etc, she'll tell you it's not supported. Creating a custom white may look warm white at mid/low colors and be orange-y at high colors.- The instruction manual needs some help in terms of clear translations and clarity.Other thoughts that aren't on the product, but the app it uses :- The Smart Life app has a color wheel, but nowhere on the color wheel screen does it show a 'degree' of color to indicate what your custom color is, making it near impossible to find your custom color again.- There's no way to save your custom color in the Smart Life app which is frustrating.Overall, I'm really happy with these, they provide a nice pop of color or just a little bit of light to the area over my sink/bar. They're good quality feeling, and I have no questions they should last a long while! Great addition to all my other smart home stuff! I'm hopeful that these few small nitpicks will be ironed out in future releases of both the app and the product itself, but I'm happy with them as they are!

Far better than the competition
In the realm of LED strips you generally have 2 options: Buy some cheap piece of junk that may or may not be dead on arrival and will definitely die at some point, or flicker etc., or buy a ludicrously overpriced strip like the Philips Hue. I was *very* happy to find that this strip meets in the middle, being only slightly more expensive than the cheap strips while being much, much better quality, and giving the Philips Hue a run for its money.First off is the connectivity aspect. If you have any kind of home automation, this adds a fantastic level of convenience. Normally you'd be limited to the little IR remote included with most cheap LED strip kits, offering something like 16 different colors with 6 different brightness steps, and where the color white ends up being light pink or blue (i.e. not actually white), and with buttons that don't register as being pressed half the time. But here you have the app, which allows you to power on the strip anywhere anytime, set schedules, choose "scenes", and adjust the full range of colors and brightness, along with saturation. So in particular if you're using these LED strips to add a bit of flair to your battlestation (pictured, work in progress), this is the strip for you. You can fine tune the color to match a desktop background, change the color easily on the fly to match the game you're playing (green = Skyrim, blue = Subnautica, red = Doom, etc.), and overall I'm extremely happy with it.If I had to choose one complaint, it'd be that the adhesion isn't phenomenal. Full-disclosure I have this mounted on a raceway which is grooved, though, so to be fair my complaint with that is based on the fact that the strip isn't really fully adhered and has little tug points where the grooves are, so I just added 2 pieces of clear tape to both ends of the strip and have no problems. The brightness and even spacing of diodes results in an extremely clean, consistent light. In the photo I have brightness at 100%, however I typically keep it at 50% because 100% is too bright during gaming. But again, changing this is a breeze, just popping into the app and pulling a slider, and done. The strip has a silicone coating, which may or may not be a good thing. If, like me, you're running the strip straight then this is a good thing, adding to the structure of the strip and serving as protection, but if you plan on splitting the strip into pieces you'll have to pry that silicone off - but this really isn't difficult at all, just a minor inconvenience. I'm going to be adding some LED strips to the back of my monitor soon so I'm able to get complimentary colors going (which looks great IMO), and even though I'll have to splice the strips together (meaning a non-coated strip would be easier to work with), I'm absolutely going to be ordering another one of these because I know it's great.Highly recommended!
