These do the job of saving space and organizing cord, length is decent for most applications. Dont let your kids play with it as they can be broken fairly quickly when used incorrectly. Pull from both sides equal pressure always.

This is a handy cord design for travel. I have a variety of cables I stuff into my laptop bag, and they tend to tangle. I replaced a couple of my conventional cordes with one of these and a similar one with an iPad connector. Bingo - the tangling issue went away. I wouldn't normally choose lime green, purple, etc. for my cables, but the bright colors do make it easy to grab the one you are looking for. For charging from an outlet, you will need a little USB power cube that plugs into the wall.The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that it is a bit flimsy. I broke my first one by bumping the microUSB connector with my laptop when my phone was charging. It wasn't a forceful hit, but it bent the connector in a way that made it unusable. The retracting mechanism works fairly well, though I've had it jam once or twice when I wasn't careful.All in all, a useful device - probably not as well made as your OEM cord, but a lot more convenient.

It can be tedious when it tangles itself up but it's not worth returning. Pretty sure I'll be returning to the cigarette lighter adapter with cords for each item as the USB adapter confuses my GPS and makes it think it's plugged into my computer and it tries to update. Also, the USB adaptor doesn't fit as snugly into the cigarette lighter housing. That's a problem when I'm using my GPS and trying to charge my phone, too. It jars the adapter loose and knocks my GPS, along with my intended destination, out of it's route.(Yes, I know very well that I could use the GPS on my phone. It's too small for me to read.)

WARNING: As of 11/7/2016 the "Silver" color option is a USB to Mini USB cable, not micro. I received a Mini USB and the replacement they sent it also Mini USB. I then ordered black instead and it's the correct USB to Micro USB item as described.A little bulky but it charges and works as a data cable for my Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M8, which is more than I can say for the other 3 brands of retractable micro USB cable I tried before this one. These things are extremely handy and much less of a mess than a short cable. I keep one in my work laptop bag, one in my personal laptop sleeve, and one in my car and I use them frequently.

Terrible terrible product. It extends to a certain length and then it's supposed to stay that way until you need it to retract. This is apparently done by stretching it taut which sets it, then tapping it when you want it to retract. When you tap it, it whips the ends back in.Unfortunately, many times it does this on it's own, yanking the charger out of the phone completely. If you place it down on the table and it thinks you are tapping it, and rips the charger out the phone. If you nudge it slightly with your arm, or even sit down next to it, it can apparently mistake this for you tapping it and then rip the charger out of the phone. So you can't put it down, nudge it, sit next to it, or at times, even look at it without it retracting out of nowhere. Ripping the charger end out of your phone not only stops it from charging, but is also bad for the connection on your plug. It doesn't always rip the charger out however. Sometimes it retracts back and instead drags your phone right off the couch or coffee table. Right onto the floor. Which could break it.And that's not all. The cord is on a circular pulley, and it tangles regularly, refusing to retract at all. Which leaves you with an ordinary charger.Maybe I got a defective one?The idea here is great, but it is so poorly made that I would not recommend this to anyone!It is also a dollar less at Half Price Books.AVOID!

The cable fits snugly at both ends and charges/transfers data quickly. The only drawback is that sometimes the recoiling stops at the last level before it's completely retracted, and sometimes I need to jar it (usually a tap on a desk will do) in order for it to finish retracting. However, the convenience is great, and it's easily portable.

WRONG DESCRIPTION!The quality of the item is ok. It binds a little when you retract it but rearranging the cable solves this so it's not a big deal. Beware however, this is NOT a micro USB cable like the title says. It is a mini USB cable. It will work with cameras, etc but not cell phones and tablets.

This broke right after we put it in the car.

...the housing blew apart on first attempt to pull both sides of the cable out. I have others of the same product and, so far, are great! I would simply like another of the same sent to me for another try. An exchange is very acceptable.
