I tried it first time and it was great for inserting it into the oyster. I was scared to open more than a couple yesterday since it looked very fragile and small. Today I decided to go at it to either break it or send it back.I have never shucked oysters faster than today. I love them and I usually order 100-200 at a time. All you have to do is insert the tip in there and give it a twist and wow. No more than 2 seconds for each oyster. Unreal. If it breaks I will send it back but I am telling you after 40 oysters in a very fast pace, not even a scratch on the knife. Don’t push, twist.Then I noticed the tip has a bend to it from the factory. I am guessing that had I noticed that before it would have made it even easier if that’s possible.So far I am giving it a 5 star as it worked like nothing I have ever seen before.

Ordered the knife as a present for my daughter, who had a cheaper plastic handle knife. First time used the blade tip bent. The blade is smaller and thinner than the cheaper knife, so I don't know if that's the issue. Nice looking tool, looked good, felt good, just failed on first try. Too expensive to not return.*** Important update : Melocean customer service contacted me immediately and explained the reason for the tip failure. This knife should not be used on hinges, as stated in the instructions. We discussed a possible remedy for this misunderstanding, and they are sending a replacement knife at their expense. Excellent job of follow up on their part.

blade is a bit too short, really needs a guard; for hand protection.When in use, it's not easy to determine which is the sharp side.Gloves are sturdy & comfortable.packaging makes a nice presentation..

This knife will open an oyster with ease but it is very sharp, so beware.When you usually pick around to find a slot for your knife, this knife willopen an oyster almost anywhere....it slips right in between the shells andpops them right open. Did I say this is sharp?Makes shucking a piece of cake.

The blade is too thin and pointed for shucking oysters. Also, the gloves are not thick and heavy enough. I was afraid if the knife slipped it could puncture the glove.

Perfect for shucking any oyster small enough to fit inside small openings and strong enough to handle the pressure this also separates the tendon with eas!!! It made me a even faster shucker
