This knife looks beautiful and is functional, but the maker took a lot of short cuts.The fit and finish leave a lot to be desired. The handle is made with poor tolerances and the blade’s pattern is splotchy. The design is etched on and my plate was missing the design in certain spots. Additionally. I don’t think this knife was necessarily made to be used in a kitchen. It came covered in a thick oil that definitely isn’t food grade. When I went to deep clean the knife and add a layer of food grade oil, the blade kept on leaching dark soot. I washed it with warm water and a towel at least 5 times, and the blade continued to leave a dark residue on the towel - I wouldn’t want that on my food. The handle horn is also dyed black and immediately began to fade upon being wiped down. I am confident the soot from the blade is a separate issue from the fading handle horn. Do NOT buy to use in the kitchen.

Clean your knives! This beast was worth every penny so far. I've cut pineapples, meats, filet chicken breast like an expert cutting guy! It's heavy, sure. But that weight sure helps it out butcher a butcher knife. This bad mamajamma can cuuuuuuut! Smooth like buttuh.I make up my own names for moves I do with the knife. Like I was trying to devein a shrimp, so I gave it the ole Nantucket Nick, into a Bay Area Upper Cut. And boom deveined.On chicken, or beef, I try and stay within the arena of the subject at hand. So cutting the leg away from the thigh is a Portland Knee Clip, or the more popular, Iowan Kneecapper. Either way, it makes cooking for fun.And this knife delivers. I don't know about longevity, yet. But loving it so far.

The only complaint my husband (a big knife buff) has is the sheath. The back end of the blade overhangs, at least on the one we received.

It's a nice looking knife. The only problem is that it rusts easily and the handle wasn't properly mounted on the tang so it rubs your hands pretty badly while using it.
