Follow Me! (National Geographic Kids Readers, Level 1/Co-Reader): Animal Parents and Babies

This has worked out really well for our new reader. The photos are what you would expect from Nat Geo and the writing is informative without going over my pre-schooler’s head. The you read/I read concept is really well executed. The page on the left is read by the adult and the one on the right by the child. New vocabulary is first introduced on the adult page and then repeated on the child page (great practice). There are 4 chapters and a short activity at the end of each one (the activities are meh). Animals featured are: polar bears, sea lions, pandas, meerkats, cheetahs, crocodiles, lemurs, elephants, orangutans, capuchin monkeys, sea otters, dolphins, and chimps.I agree with a previous reviewer that the name “animal parents” is misleading because all the parents are mothers. My son decided that the elephant and dolphin are dads, so that’s how we got around that issue 😂Overall, our family loves all the Nat Geo readers we have, but this one is our favorite because of the you read/I read setup that makes it easier to encourage our new reader to participate. The information is also a bit easier to digest for our little one compared to some of the other level 1 readers in the series.

My 2 year son loves these books. Although he doesn’t read yet- They have vivid real life pictures which captures his attention. The book is small enough to slip into my diaper bag and have on the go for when he is bored. I will definitely be adding more of these books to my sons library. I also have the farm one which is one of his favorite books!

Great way to help a child learn to read!!

This adorable book is fantastic for new readers. Both parent and child will learn new facts and vocabulary and have fun while doing it.

We love these co-readers. My kindergartener loves them. I wish i could find more books with this style, maybe some fiction books.

Just the right length for a bed time story , with lots of great pictures for kids to look at after you say good night.

Bought for grand daughters. Very happy - will buy many more 😂😁😂😁

My daughter (5yrs) enjoys the book and is easy for her to read and follow.
