Hi there. I have found that if anything touches it (like a cord, paper, your phone or anything that might be on my night stand will make it come on once i made sure nothing else was around the light it works well with just the slightest touch of my finger.

Q: I am traveling to europe and i want to take the lamp with me. is this dual voltage. will it be ok to charge there?

yes, it is DC 5V input voltage, can be working for all over A/C power, just to connect a AC/DC USB adapter to charge the inside battery.
