Heaven for Kids

My family has been studying both the original "Heaven" and "Heaven For Kids" since our littlest died in February. Knowing the truth and joys of Heaven and the New Earth which are waiting for those who profess Christ, is the BIGGEST source of comfort for me as a bereaved mother. I also now understand the importance of building Heaven in our children's minds as we learn to serve Christ with our lives. If we don't know what we are working for, then how can we give our entire being to the Lord in service and love? This is the BEST book for learning about Heaven and creating an excellent stage from which to imagine the beauty of eternity with the Lord.

I read this before giving it to my teenage grandchild after the death of her dad. A lot of Biblical research obviously occured before the author wrote this very informative book. It will be particularly meaningful for any child/teen who is familiar with C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia books as the author uses many passages from those books to help illustrate scriptures. Extemely well done and would definitely recommend it. (I've read the "adult version" of Randy Alcorn's book Heaven and actually enjoyed the "kids version" more!)

I am so disappointed with this book. If I wanted to know about Narnia I would’ve bought that book,Lots of references to witches and Deep Magic. No thanks.

This is a great book for kids. I can remember as a kid being worried about Heaven, thinking it would be boring. Alcorn’s book challenges that idea and gets kids really excited about Heaven. My kids are 9 and 10, but this would be appropriate for kids of any age. We read it out loud and it was great for the adults too.

This book seems to be great as far in as we have made it, but Alcorn relies heavily on examples from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to help explain concepts for the kids. My daughter is not familiar with that story yet, so I find myself having to explain the examples which is just twice the work. So, the book is a great tool and I would recommend it for sure, but make sure you and your children are familiar with Narnia(either read the book or watch the movie) first to get the most out of what this book has to offer!

I am a Sunday School teacher and sometimes my age 8-13 students ask the very questions in this book. Now I will have to bible answers for them.Also it is writing in a format that the children will read it themselves.

When I talk about spiritual things sometimes people say I'm like a child. Reading this book made me feel the excitement of a child who is going on vacation to a new place.If heaven is going to be our future permanent home then don't you think it would be fun to know all about it? In this book Randy Alcorn answers a great deal of questions.Will we have pets in heaven?Will we eat in heaven?How will we travel?Will we have real bodies?Will we see God?Will we talk to Jesus?Will we have the same nationality as on earth?So many questions and this book is quite long! There are lots of fun ideas like how we might learn many different languages or how we might get to invent and explore. There is a little bit of information on what the New Heaven and New Earth will look like. There is also a description of the New Jerusalem. This book explains that we will never get bored in heaven. It also explains how we might explore the universe.This book not only explains heaven in great detail but it also tells children how to make sure they are going to heaven. I can recommend this book to kids but parents might also love reading it.The only thing I think they could have done was to create pictures. Instead they have pictures of the same kid's faces all through the book. Some pictures of how an artist might imagine heaven would have been fantastic. Maybe they'll think of that in the future. Randy Alcorn does a great job in giving concise answers to the questions I’ve been asked! The answers are good for anyone, not just kids but written in a way to be able to answer older children as well as young ones.

Great reading for children to give them an understanding of death, heaven and eternal live.

A great book, which works as a discussion starter as I read it through with my three children (aged 6, 8 & 11). The children relate well with the Chronicles of Narnia quotes and we've used it to discuss beautiful places we know now & what heaven and the new earth will be like. It's given each of us something more to hope for and we read am exert every morning at breakfast. I'd recommend it to everyone!

Randy Alcorn has a superb writing style that really engages children on this huge subject. My 10 year old found this inspiring and it has led to many interesting discussions in the family. Also a very helpful introduction to the subject of Heaven if as an adult you struggle to read his "bigger" book, although we would recommend that as well!!

I've been studying Randy's book "Heaven" for several years and have been blessed and encouraged by his words. I have two 13-yr-old grandsons and thought that this book might be suitable for them. I haven't read it completely but I already see that it is going to be perfect for what I have in mind. Both boys attend Christian summer camps and one goes to a Christian school 'but what do they really know about Heaven and what can they expect to look forward to, especially in this uncertain time in which we are living? So I'm ordering two more copies and while on vacation with them both in January we're going to have a bit of a study together each day. From what I've seen of this book, it's just what I was looking for. I'm also recommending it to a teenage friend who coaches adolescent girls in a study group. Very relevant.
