Well made sturdy--a little pricey.

Hade to use a cable because my PLC connector interfered physically with this unit. other than that great connector.

Works as expected but kinda wide blocking some jacks. Very useful to checkout custom wiring before making custom cables.

Awesome for making one off plc cables and such.

The only pins that go straight through in relation to the screw terminal block are pins 6-7-8. The other pins are not wired to any industry standard. Pin out is as follows: With the RJ45 male plug end pointing out away from you, starting with the first terminal screw on the left moving to the right are connected to pins 5-4-1-2-3-6-7-8.ALMOST TOTALLY USELESS if you do not label the removable connector !!!!!

I ordered one set of male and one set of female adapters. The terminal blocks aren't labeled so I did that myself. The female part is sequential but the male part is strangely, to me, wired. I've included a photo of the two parts with the pin labels. As someone else noted, best to confirm the pinouts yourself because they may change.

These adapters seem to be of good quality, and useful for special temporary testing purposes - or perhaps even for certain "permanent" installations as an alternative to the usual direct termination of a cable into an RJ plug (however, this may degrade the rating of the cable). I got my set to use for pre-testing continuity of long CAT-5/6 cable sections prior to their installation and prior to termination after installation. (These adapters allow me to connect the un-terminated cable sections to a device that tests all eight conductors at once, but has modular RJ jacks for its inputs).I imagine these adapters would be useful for a number of other purposes, too - such as breaking-out individual conductors or pairs for testing, etc. These adapters - along with their counter-part mating adapters - can be used to make an in-line break-out connection, or for inserting some connection into a cable path. (For this purpose, it would be helpful if these adapters were sold as M-F pairs, instead of in 2xM or 2xF sets).The adapter's screw-terminal strips can be unplugged from the adapter - so it would be possible to swap terminal strips that are pre-wired.A disadvantage is that the adapters may be too wide to fit into a dense patch-panel of RJ modular jacks - especially if trying to plug two adapters into adjacent modular jacks.Also, it can be tricky to secure the small-gauge solid wires of a CAT-5/6 cable into the adapter's screw-terminal strips, which are large enough to accommodate much larger wire sizes.

This is a nice breakout for RJ-45 cables. I was able to make the connections I needed easily. Screw terminals worked well but numbering is odd. The first terminal is not pin 1 so you have to figure it out. Don't make a mistake thinking they are in order or you will have problems.
