Perfect for what I needed
5 Stars – Outstanding Smart Doorbell for the Price!I live in San Antonio, TX, and recently installed the TP-Link Tapo doorbell camera—and I have to say, this thing is fantastic. The installation was incredibly easy, and the setup through the Tapo app was quick and smooth. Within minutes, it was up and running, and it's been flawless ever since. The video quality is sharp, motion alerts are accurate, and I really appreciate the two-way talk feature—it works great. One of the biggest perks for me is being able to customize the notification sound through my Samsung phone, which helps me instantly know when someone is at my door.I feel much more secure knowing I can monitor my front door anytime, whether I’m home or away. For the price, this smart doorbell offers premium performance and reliability. If you’re looking for a user-friendly, dependable doorbell camera, this is the one. Highly recommend!

WORTH THE MONEY!! HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!
This is a high quality product! I am so impressed! I have went through several different doorbell cameras. This was so easy to set up! The picture and sound quality is the best I have encountered. I love the design & feel very secure with this camera up. I can see the whole front of my yard. You are able to zoom in and move from side to side. It alerts in real time. There is no lag at all. There’s no wait time once you open the app you can get right in to check the camera. My previous cameras I had to wait upwards to a minute for the app to open the camera up if it would open. There’s no pressure to sign up for their service. This by far is the best camera I have tried. I can not say enough about this product!! It is worth the little extra money.

Tapo D225 offers excellent value and functionality without the need for a subscription
I recently upgraded to the TP-Link Tapo D225 Smart Video Doorbell, and I'm genuinely impressed by its performance—especially since it doesn't require a subscription. The 2K resolution and 180-degree field of view provide clear, comprehensive coverage of my front porch. I store the recording to a microSD card, which offers peace of mind without any having fees associated with subscription services unlike other brands. The AI-powered motion detection identifies people, vehicles, and pets, but needs work as a person can show up as all 3 tags. While the device is slightly bulkier than some alternatives, it does support existing mechanical chimes, the included plug-in chime works well and is easy to customize. You just have to turn on one with a transformer hardwired in to it.

Great video doorbell. But then again, are you surprised? It is TP-Link, after all.
I'll write more below, but here's the bottom line: Yes, you should buy this doorbell. It absolutely beats the competitors in this area, including the one made by the company whose shopping platform you're using right now (rhymes with "Sing"). I can't say I'm surprised this doorbell is so good, though. TP-Link clearly thinks carefully about its products and works hard to put out high-quality stuff (I have several other items from TP-Link, and I've always been pleased at how reliable and high-quality their stuff is).Additional details:-Price point is excellent (just under $50 as of the time of this review). Extremely fair. These seem to be on sale regularly, so if you see it listed for a considerably higher price and you can wait, you might want to consider holding off for a bit and coming back a little later to see if they are on sale.-Set up and installation are a breeze and connectivity is great.-Motion detection is great, and you can configure sensitivity and areas for detection. It also supports person detection, vehicle detection, and animal detection (each of which can be further configured with the same options, either as a group so everything has the same settings or independent from one another). I've not tested the vehicle or animal detection, but the person detection is quite good. And if you're getting false positives, you can give the doorbell feedback and it will improve. You can also, of course, tweak the sensitivity of detection. But it's nice to see TP-Link include the option to help train the doorbell. The training occurs locally, for your doorbell only (i.e., it doesn't mean your images will then be sent to the cloud or their servers and used to train their algorithms centrally; they respect your privacy).-You can opt in to their subscription service if you want cloud recording, but I specifically sought out doorbell cameras that permitted local storage only (which is what I favor). Even with local storage, the doorbell is very responsive.-Video quality is excellent. The camera also has an "auto" feature when live streaming to give the highest resolution that makes sense for your connection speed and strength at the time of viewing.-Audio quality is similarly great. It also supports different modes of talking through the doorbell. One works sort of like a walkie-talkie, and one works more like a video call. Answering doorbell rings works like a video call. But you can sneak a peek at who is at your doorbell before "officially" answering (it'll turn audio and video on on the doorbell, but keep your mic muted so they won't know you're screening who's at your door).-Battery life is good. I've seen some complaints about battery life, but I suspect this comes from people not fully charging their doorbell or using it all the time. There's no such thing as infinite battery!Bottom line: If you buy this, I'm confident you'll wonder why you didn't make the move sooner. Say goodbye to whatever competitor version you might have and come on in, the water's just fine. Or, if this is your first foray into smart doorbells, you're in for a treat with this as your introduction.

Great product for home automaters with trade offs
This device is the single most stable doorbell i've used so far. This now supports RTSP and ONVIF after an update, so this works with Blue Iris, Srypted and pretty much anything that that uses standard protocols. the image quality is superb and most importantly, the wifi connectivity is so stable. I've owned several doorbells from ring and reolink etc. and none of them seem to be able to keep a solid connection for a 24/7 stream like this one can.Now for the cons, the doorbell events are not ONVIF so integrating the doorbell press to scrypted wasn't possible (at least for now), but the default tapo app doorbell push notifications were lightning quick. the main onvif/rtsp stream is h.265 and can't be changed which will cause streaming issues within homekit via scrypted, but the substream is still h.264 and high quality enough that it isn't too bad in HKSV.There is no perfect product in this form factor, especially if RTSP and ONVIF are a must and if your priority is a 24/7 stream, this comes the closest for me, the good news is all my complaints are pretty minimal and seem to be software related, they could patch these in at a later date, so who knows.
